On August 21, an illegal alien named Cristhian Rivera was arrested for the murder of Mollie Tibbetts. He had been living in the area for 4 to 7 years. It’s not the first time an illegal has murdered someone, and unless something is done, it likely won’t be the last. Rivera led police to the location of her body.
The search for Mollie lasted for 34 days. Police were given a surveillance video by a citizen and were able to see Mollie jogging, being followed by a black Chevy Malibu. They then used data from her fitbit and cell phone as well as the video of the vehicle to find the perpetrator.
He parked his Malibu so that he could “run alongside her.”
Mollie confronted him.
Rivera said he killed her in a fit of rage after she threatened to call the police if he didn’t leave her alone. He confessed to the murder, saying that he “blacked out.”
Blue Lives Matter reported,
The illegal immigrant, whom authorities said had been living in rural Poweshiek County for four to seven years, told police that his blackout ended near where they found Tibbett’s body at 460th Street.
He told police he did a u-turn and drove back into the entrance of a cornfield.
Rivera said that when his blackout ended, he saw an earbud in his lap and realized he had put Tibbetts in his trunk, according to an arrest affidavit filed with the Powesheik County Clerk of Courts.
When he got to the field, he got out of his car and went around to the back of the car to pull Tibbetts’ body out of the trunk.
Rivera told detectives that was when he noticed blood on the side of her head, according to the affidavit.
He told police he put Tibbetts over his shoulder and carried her body about 20 meters into the cornfield, where he dropped her and camouflaged her with corn stalks.
His description of the clothes she was wearing matched. Rivera faces life without the possibility of parole for First Degree Murder.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, August 22 to determine cause of death.
