Tensions Mount with China as They Cut Off Dialogue with US and Sanction Pelosi

Xi is trying to look tough in his own election year, as Biden continues to “isolate” from a “rebound” bout of Covid. Meanwhile, the tensions mount with China, as they cut off dialogue with the US and sanction Pelosi. There really has been no “dialogue” with China as they’ve spent hours yelling at Biden and his administration since he got into office. And their “sanctions” on House Speaker Pelosi will likely have little to no effect on her. All of this as China practices for a Taiwan invasion with military exercises surrounding the island.

Tensions mount as China cuts off “military and climate ties”

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said dialogue between U.S. and Chinese regional commanders and defense department heads would be canceled, along with talks on military maritime safety.
Cooperation on returning illegal immigrants, criminal investigations, transnational crime, illegal drugs and climate change will be suspended, the ministry said.
Dialogue and exchanges between China and the U.S., particularly on military matters and economic exchanges, have generally been halting at best. Climate change and fighting trade in illegal drugs such as fentanyl were, however, areas where they had found common cause, and Beijing’s suspension of cooperation could have significant implications for efforts to achieve progress in dealing with those issues.

Beijing said Friday it will cancel phone calls between regional military commanders, defense meetings, talks on maritime safety and on climate change. It also said it would end cooperation with the U.S. on anti-drug efforts, returning illegal immigrants and transnational crime. Earlier, China took personal action against Pelosi, announcing sanctions on the speaker and her immediate family in response to what the Chinese Foreign Ministry called her “egregious provocations.”Save on American Flags – American Flag Sets – US madeAdwww.united-states-flag.com

The unspecified sanctions, China’s latest retaliation for the brief trip to the self-ruling island it claims as its own territory, came as Washington and its allies urged de-escalation.

As for “climate change,” keep in mind that China is top polluter and they are creating more than half of the world’s coal plants even after the climate talks where they pledged to reduce their use of it.

But make no mistake: the tensions mount and China is pissed off. The military industrial complex lives to fight more wars. How long will Taiwan hold out? Unless the US gets off its administrative butt and sends the military hardware they’ve already purchased, they won’t last long.

It’s significant that China launched its main military exercises around Taiwan after Pelosi left. As we previously reported, this is the first time they conducted such exercises on the east side of the island. Taiwan says they are “rehearsing” for the invasion that will surely come sooner rather than later, despite US warships in the region.

China has chosen to overreact and use Speaker Pelosi’s visit as a pretext to increase provocative military activity in and around the Taiwan strait. There is no justification for this extreme, disproportionate and escalatory military response.
