Panama Beach City, Florida — Once again, a spring break party went wrong when 7 students were shot at a house party in Panama Beach City. Several of the students were from Alabama A&M University. Three of them are in critical condition, and three are in stable condition. One person who underwent surgery had no condition posted.

The incident occurred shortly before 1 a.m on Saturday. Police received a flood of 911 calls. The reports were of multiple shots fired with multiple victims. When they arrived, the crime scene stretched from inside the party house to in the street, to across the street.
The victims were shot multiple times: in the side, the head, the neck, chest, etc.
Police established a perimeter as soon as they arrived, and within a short time found the .40 handgun in a nearby yard.
A short time after the shooting, police arrested a man who matched the description of the suspect near the Gulf of Mexico. David Jamichael Daniels, 22, was arrested for 7 counts of attempted murder. Daniels is from Mobile, Alabama, where three of the victims were attending the university.

The victims
Anesia Powell, 20 underwent surgery on Saturday for gunshots to the left arm, chest and knee. Her condition was not released.
Critical are Kearria Freed, 20, who was shot in the head, Devanta Moore, 21, who was shot in the chest, and Henton Franklin, 22, who was shot in the side.
Stable
Tykeria Ethridge, 22, was shot in the neck and shoulder. Kelli Curry, 21, was shot in the leg. Jacole Young, 22, was shot in the back.
Tykeria posted a photo of her injuries on Facebook. She said, “I just knew I was dead” after being shot several times. Since she has a young son, she stated that she was worried about him during the shooting.

The Spring Break dilemma
Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen expressed frustration with the Spring break problem in Panama Beach City. Trying to police the thousands of students and outsiders who come there has become extremely difficult. Last year, he recommended that alcohol be banned on the beach, although that has not yet occurred.
“It’s been a rough time and there are two completely different elements of spring break. There are the college kids who are here for their spring break and there is the group of people drawn here because of them.” Sheriff McKeithen
Daniels is expected to make his first court appearance tomorrow.
