Planned Parenthood Shooter -A Man-Woman with a gun?

By Faye Higbee

The ‘Planned Parenthood’ shooter has been identified as Robert Lewis Dear, 57, who identified himself as a woman on his voter registration.  In his shooting spree on November 28, 3 people were killed, 2 civilians and one University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) Police officer, Garrett Swasey, 44. Nine others were wounded in the incident.

Fox wrote,

Lt. Catherine Buckley of the Colorado Springs Police Department said the gunman, described as wearing a long coat and armed with a rifle, gave up after officers inside the building shouted at him. He previously had been firing at police who entered the facility.

Four police officers and 5 civilians were wounded, all are in good condition at the hospital. The siege lasted for five hours.

Suspicious items

According to police, Dear brought “items” into the building with him, and those “items” have now been investigated to see if they were explosives. One report was that his car was “surrounded with explosives,” though police have not released what they found at the scene.

The planned parenthood shooter spin

Here are some interesting tidbits: Dear is originally from South Carolina, and has a criminal record there and in North Carolina. Mr. Dear identified himself as a woman on his voter registration. He is registered as UAF- or unaffiliated. So A) he’s not a Republican domestic terrorist, and B) he’s obviously pro-LGBT. That paints a whole different picture of the shooter.

The initial 911 call came from the Planned Parenthood clinic- hence – the title. The shooter began his lethal attack in the same building as the Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs. Inside that building are numerous medical offices and two banks.

All media were calling it the “Planned Parenthood” shooting and are still doing so today. The active shooter incident yesterday went crazy across the internet, with liberals fairly shrieking that “right wing Christians” should be treated as domestic terrorists.

But it is still unclear whether Mr. Dear had any connection whatever to the PP clinic in the strip mall  where he began shooting. Police have not yet released his motive.

New York Mayor DeBlasio has stepped up security at Planned Parenthood Clinics in the city in the wake of the shootings.

The FBI and ATF, along with Colorado Springs police departments are investigating the incident, and state that it may be several days before it is completed.

Officer Swasey

Garrett Swasey was 44 years old, and had been on the UCCS police department for six years. He was married and had two young children. He also served as co-pastor for 7 years at the Hope Chapel in Colorado Springs.  According to church friends, he did what he did because he believed it was the right thing to do.

So  should we label officer Swasey as a “right wing terrorist” too? He was a Christian. He carried a gun. His grieving family his friends, his fellow officers, knew him  for what he was – a man of principle.

The news media has rushed to their own conclusions, and run rampant with their view of this story.
