The incident occurred around 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The Trooper was outside of his vehicle when the gunfight erupted. He was shot multiple times. His condition is critical, but no other information has been yet released. The PA State Police Corporal was flown to St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, PA. where he underwent surgery for the wounds. He is currently in the intensive care unit.

The suspect was taken into custody after he was located at Easton Hospital in Fountain Hill, where he was being treated for his own gunshot wounds. His car was impounded by authorities. He has now been transferred to another hospital by ambulance, according to the Morning Call (Mcall.com).

It is so far unclear why the trooper stopped the vehicle. A press conference scheduled for today has been postponed until tomorrow. Neither the trooper nor the suspect names have been released at this time.
