Officer Shot During Traffic stop in Ballwin, MO

On this day of extreme tragedy for law enforcement comes another shooting of a police officer.

At around 11:00 a.m. Friday morning, a Ballwin police officer stopped a Ford Taurus for speeding.  Suddenly, the 911 center started receiving calls for an officer down at that location.

Numerous agencies responded, along with Fire/EMS crews. They found the officer with life-threatening injuries to the neck. He was transported to an area hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition.

ID’d by dash cam video

Though the suspect fled the scene, a manhunt ensued. Because the dash cam video was rolling, police were able to ID the suspect prior to arrest. He was subsequently arrested in Manchester, Missouri after a foot chase. Charges are pending. The weapon, a semi-auto handgun, was recovered as well.

The St. Louis County Police Department is handling the investigation.
