NY Bill A416 is DOA – Assemblyman Yanks Bill, Says Conspiracy Theorists Stopped It

NY Bill A416 has been around since 2015, and never made it out of committee. This time, Assemblyman Nick Perry (D) yanked it entirely after the years of fighting to get it through the New York Legislature.  Why? Because the bill allowed anyone deemed “dangerous to public health” to be “detained.” And where they would be detained was an issue that we previously reported. New York has become a hotbed of rules that have already destroyed most freedoms…this bill would have been the final straw.

“Conspiracy theorists, and those who spread misinformation online are once again trolling on social media, posting concocted stories about A416. To deprive these individuals the ability to use this issue for fuel to spread their fire of lies and mistruths, I will take the appropriate legislative action to strike the bill, remove it from the calendar, thus ending all consideration and actions that could lead to passage into law. Get vaccinated and stay safe.”

Detention in quarantine camps – A416

When Assemblyman Perry first introduced the bill in 2015, there was a nationwide panic over Ebola. A nurse who returned from West Africa at that time refused to be placed in quarantine, so the Democrat lawmaker created a bill to force it for anyone with a disease. Much like the current situation in Australia, where people are forced into “camps,” allegedly to protect the rest of society.

Upon determining by clear and convincing evidence that the health of others is or may be endangered by a case, contact or carrier, or suspected  case, contact or carrier of a contagious disease that, in the opinion of the governor, after consultation with the commissioner,  may pose an imminent and significant threat to the public health resulting in severe morbidity or high mortality, the governor or his or her delegee, including, but not limited to the commissioner or the heads of local health departments, may order the removal and/or detention of such a person or of a group of such persons by issuing a single order,  identifying such persons either by name or by a reasonably specific description of the individuals or group being detained. Such person or group of persons shall be detained in a medical facility or other appropriate facility or premises designated by the governor or his or her delegee and complying with subdivision five of this section.

 3. A person or group removed or detained by order of the governor or his or her delegee pursuant to subdivision two of this section shall be detained for such period and in such manner as the department may direct in accordance with this section.”

Perry was angry that A416 never went anywhere. Having reintroduced it year after year and especially with Covid, he blamed “misinformation” and “conspiracy theories”as the cause of its demise. What he refused to own up to is that codifying detention is a pathway to tyranny.

The sponsor of A416 is saying we were spreading ‘misinformation,’ calling us ‘conspiracy theorists’ who were ‘concocting stories’ causing him to pull his Bill. I’m pretty sure we all can read and his intent was to haul people away for the good of all.

This is reminiscent of what happened in WW2 when someone thought it was a good idea to send Americans of Japanese descent to ‘camps’ for the duration of the war.

Republican Assemblyman. Joe Angelino

This is what Fear creates: opportunity. Placing your opponents in detention is an opportunity to destroy their ability to fight back. It is a historical fact from Nazi Germany’s extermination of Jews, Japanese-Americans forced into US detention camps in WWII to the January 6, 2021 riot in DC. The claim of “danger to society” is an argument that has been used for centuries. Democrats have been using it now for some time – that Assemblyman Perry finally yanked A416 from play is a victory for stopping such evil plans wherever they rear their ugly heads… but we have a long way to go.
