NRA Pulls Plug on NRATV, Lets Spokesperson Dana Loesch Go, Chris Cox Resigns

The NRA pulls plug on NRATV as the organization appears to be going through major upheavals. They dumped Dana Loesch, and Chief Lobbyist Chris Cox has resigned. This kind of messy public situation is not good, either for the NRA or for the fight for Second Amendment Rights. In fact, we can almost imagine the leftists squealing with delight.

NRA Pulls Plug on NRATV

“Many members expressed concern about the messaging on NRATV becoming too far removed from our core mission: defending the Second Amendment. So, after careful consideration, I am announcing that starting today, we are undergoing a significant change in our communications strategy. We are no longer airing ‘live TV’ programming… What necessitated the change now is our conclusion that our longtime advertising firm and website vendor failed to deliver upon many contractual obligations it made to our Association.” Wayne LaPierre

The rift between the NRA and the company that runs the NRATV – Ackerman McQueen – has been brewing for months. They were angry at the decision to turn them off, saying they were “not surprised that the N.R.A. is unwilling to honor its agreement to end our contract and our long-standing relationship in an orderly and amicable manner.”

The NRA has been under scrutiny since the Oliver North debacle, and accusations of mismanagement of funds. (Previous story here).

Ackerman Queen plans to pursue the NRA with “every legal remedy available.”

Meanwhile, Dana Loesch was dumped by the organization, primarily because she actually worked for Ackerman Queen.

Chris Cox, one of the major public faces of the NRA, was placed on leave after accusations that he participated in the internal coup attempt.

The accusation came in a lawsuit filed Wednesday night in New York State Supreme Court against Oliver North, the N.R.A.’s former president, who led the attempt to oust Mr. LaPierre shortly before the group’s annual convention in April. The complaint provides new details about the effort against Mr. LaPierre, but it is the involvement of the organization’s No. 2 official, Christopher, W. Cox, that will reverberate.

In the suit, the N.R.A. said that text messages and emails demonstrated that “another errant N.R.A. fiduciary, Chris Cox — once thought by some to be a likely successor for Mr. LaPierre — participated” in what was described as a conspiracy.

Cox himself stated that the charge was “patently false.”

“For over 24 years I have been a loyal and effective leader in this organization. My efforts have always been focused on serving the members of the National Rifle Association, and I will continue to focus all of my energy on carrying out our core mission of defending the Second Amendment.”

Fortunately for the 2A, there are other organizations like the Gun Owners of America, and the Second Amendment Foundation. So far, they haven’t had any major rifts. But you can bet leftists are out there hoping to create some.
