Mark Zuckerberg issued a statement on December 9 that stated he will “stand with Muslims” and they will “always be welcome here.” And that explains why recently nearly every Conservative group has experienced the continual rage of Facebook against the voices of those who do not agree with Islam. And they paint our voice as “racist” (Islam is not a race) or “Xenophobic” or a message of “hate.”
If it’s safe for Muslims, what about the rest of us?
I want to add my voice in support of Muslims in our community and around the world.
After the Paris attacks and hate this week, I can only imagine the fear Muslims feel that they will be persecuted for the actions of others.
As a Jew, my parents taught me that we must stand up against attacks on all communities. Even if an attack isn’t against you today, in time attacks on freedom for anyone will hurt everyone.
If you’re a Muslim in this community, as the leader of Facebook I want you to know that you are always welcome here and that we will fight to protect your rights and create a peaceful and safe environment for you.
Having a child has given us so much hope, but the hate of some can make it easy to succumb to cynicism. We must not lose hope. As long as we stand together and see the good in each other, we can build a better world for all people.
Safe for Muslims, not for anyone else
So if he is making it “safe” for Muslims on Facebook, where do the rest of us go? If his definition of a “safe and peaceful environment ” is the removal of anything that begs for reason against the influx of Syrian/Muslim refugees, how is that a “safe” environment? It’s only “safe” for Muslims, not for the rest of us.
Is the allowing of jihadists into this country “safe” for anyone?
Mark Zuckerberg is a confused individual. He is of Jewish descent. Israel must constantly be on guard against jihadists who wish to destroy their nation. As we do. But Zuckerberg completely ignores that in favor of complete condemnation of anything he views as anti-Muslim.
By his post, Mark Zuckerberg shows his total ignorance of not only just the Qu’ran, but the history of Islam. Attempts to educate him will fall on deaf ears.
