Munich Stabbings – Suspect in Custody

By Faye Higbee

Munich, Germany- a man with a knife went on a stabbing spree at around 8:15 a.m. on Saturday at Rosenheimer Platz S-Bahn underground station, injuring multiple people. An intense manhunt ensued, and a suspect who matched the description of the ‘knifeman’ was arrested by 11 a.m. local time. Police ruled out terrorism after the arrest.

At five different places near the Rosenheimer Platz, the knife-wielding man stabbed random people. While most reports say 5 people were stabbed, Daily Mail reports 8, including a 12 year old boy. Their injuries do not appear to be life-threatening at this time.

Police advised people to stay away from the Rosenheimer Platz station,  Ostbahnhof and the Ostpark a little over 2 miles away. They issued a warning that a “volatile” man with a knife was on the loose. He was described as a 40 year old “corpulent” (fat) male, riding a black bike, wearing gray trousers, green training jacket, backpack+ sleeping mat.
