Massive Surge of Illegals at Texas Border

massive surge

Del Rio, Texas has become the epicenter of a massive surge of illegals crossing the Rio Grande River. Most of the people are from Haiti, according to the CBP. they have amassed on the Mexico side and hundreds of them are walking across the shallow part of the Rio Grande every hour.

They’re working six days a week, they’re working 10 or more hours a day, they’re completely overwhelmed, they are fatigued, they’re frustrated that the federal government hasn’t done its job, they’re frustrated that it appears that the federal government is actually inviting these people to cross our borders illegally.

Brandon Judd, National Border Patrol Council

The CBP has shut down the Del Rio entry point and redirected those with legal entrance and commerce to the Eagle Pass entry point, 57 miles away. The International Bridge, which we previously reported, now has around 14,000 illegal migrants near it (up from the roughly 4,000 just a couple of days ago.)

The Biden administration’s FAA tried to hide the situation by banning media from flying their drones over the bridge to document the massive surge at the Texas border. But the outcry forced them to backtrack and allow media, including Fox News reporter Bill Melugin, to document it. It’s not pretty – they didn’t want you to see it.

The Biden administration plans to deport them, but it will take numerous flights to transport the migrants. Let’s be blunt: ”processing” that many people at once will not be possible. Back in May, the Biden administration extended Temporary Protected Status for Haitians, which likely sent a ‘ç’mon up’ signal. After their Prime Minister was murdered and the earthquake that killed 2,000 people, people began massing to come into the United States.

First, within the next 24-48 hours, U.S. Customs and Border Protection will have surged 400 agents and officers to the Del Rio sector to improve control of the area.  If additional staff is needed, more will be sent. The Del Rio Port of Entry has temporarily closed, and traffic is being re-routed from Del Rio to Eagle Pass to more effectively manage resources and ensure uninterrupted flow of trade and travel.

Second, U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is coordinating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Coast Guard to move individuals from Del Rio to other processing locations, including approximately 2,000 yesterday, in order to ensure that irregular migrants are swiftly taken into custody, processed, and removed from the United States consistent with our laws and policy.

Third, DHS will secure additional transportation to accelerate the pace and increase the capacity of removal flights to Haiti and other destinations in the hemisphere within the next 72 hours…

DHS statement

According to UPI, the plan for deportation flights at this time is 8 flights per week, and then they will increase that to 10 per week. The Border Patrol has been consistently concerned that the massive surge of illegals could devolve into a stampede that would greatly endanger not only the agents, but the migrants as well.

So we have several crises in the nation at this time as Biden enjoys himself at the Beach this weekend.
