John Conyers Hospitalized from “Stress” Over Sexual Allegations

By Faye Higbee

Rep John Conyers, (D-MI) was hospitalized Thursday in his home district from the “stress” caused by allegations of sexual misconduct, according to aides.

“I just spoke with Monica Conyers on the phone and we want you to know that the congressman is resting comfortably in an area hospital. He’s doing OK, as well as he can be expected for a gentleman that’s approaching 90 years of age. The congressman’s health is not what it should be and lot of that is directly attributable to this media assault.” Sam Riddle, Political Consultant

Why we need term limits

Rep Conyers is 88 and is the longest serving Representative in the House. He has been accused of the harrassment by several former aides, one of whom is Deanna Maher who says that he made three sexual advances between 1997 and 2005. She stated that he put his hands on her while he was driving down I-75.  She alleged that the only thing that saved her was a police officer who pulled him over for erratic driving. Conyers denies the allegations, but made a financial settlement in the case.

He was accused of summoning an aide to his office where she found him in his underwear. Other times aides said he appeared “disoriented,” coming to meetings in his pajamas.

The House Ethics Committee is set to do an investigation into the allegations against Conyers. He already stepped down as ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, but did not resign from Congress.

Congress moved to silence these types of allegations in the past by having a “hush fund” to pay off accusers. Approximately $17 Million of taxpayer money has gone out over the last 20 years, according to the Washington Times. Lawmakers have introduced legislation to put an end to the payments, which appear to be sporadic.

The Domino Effect

A lot of big names have been fired in recent weeks for “sexual misconduct.” Senator Al Franken, has refused to step down after 5 allegations of sexual misconduct, including groping an Army Veteran during a USO tour, according to Fox News.

Then there are the infamous 30 year old allegations against Roy Moore.

On Wednesday we learned that Matt Lauer from NBC was fired for it, and Garrison Keillor of “Prairie Home Companion” fame was also removed for “inappropriate behavior.” It has been known that Lauer has had affairs, with as many as 8 accusers – and Katie Couric said that he “pinched her a** at lot.”

Hip-Hop entrepreneur Russell Simmons stepped down from his companies from allegations of harrassment and sexual asault.

This must be the “lifestyle of the rich and famous?” It appears to be the case.

How many of these stories are true is unknown. From allegations against Roger Ailes and Bill O’Reilly of Fox News, to military commanders to Hollywood’s downfall from Harvey Weinstein to Kevin Spacey, the months long accusations have caused people to fall like dominoes.
