After the jihadist attack at a Free Speech event in in Garland, Texas last weekend, ISIS has upped its threatening rhetoric- both towards the United States and towards the American Defense Initiative Founder, Pamela Geller. They are claiming that they have “trained soldiers in 15 states,” and that 23 of them so far have agreed to more attacks like the one on Sunday.
“Out of the 71 trained soldiers 23 have signed up for missions like Sunday, we are increasing in number. Of the 15 states, 5 we will name… Virginia, Maryland, Illinois, California, and Michigan.” Posting at Justpasteit
The warning was signed by Abu Ibrahim Al Ameriki – a fake name reportedly used by an American who went to Pakistan to join a terrorist group several years ago. Authorities are not certain that this threat came from ISIS leadership, but are taking it seriously.
“The attack by the Islamic State in America is only the beginning of our efforts to establish a wiliyah (authority or governance) in the heart of our enemy… Our aim was the khanzeer (pig) Pamela Geller and to show her that we don’t care what land she hides in or what sky shields her; we will send all our Lions to achieve her slaughter.”
Ms. Geller repeatedly refused to back down in the face of jihadist threats, and held the Texas Muhammad Art contest anyway.
Fox News wrote
A U.S. intelligence source told Fox News the threats, including the specific one against Geller, were being taken seriously.
“The U.S. takes any threat to its citizens and our national security seriously, and we expect ISIL and its supporters to continue their efforts to incite fear and encourage lone wolf attacks around the world,” the spokesman said.
On Tuesday, White House press secretary Josh Earnest acknowledged today that Garland was “what appears to be an attempted terrorist attack.”
Geller refuses to back down
Recently, a Fox News host accused Geller of not backing down – as if that were a bad thing. The host appeared to demand that she quit provoking Muslims.
On Pamela’s blog this was posted:
Over 13-years after the murderous jihad cataclysm of 9/11/2001, these news intermediaries evidence a woefully deficient understanding of the living Islamic doctrinal and historical basis for behaviors such as the thwarted Garland, TX attack. They are equally oblivious to hard contemporary data on both global, and U.S. Muslim attitudes toward such critically relevant matters as “blasphemy,” as well as what a preeminent, mainstream North American Muslim jurists association opines about “punishment” for criticism of Islam’s prophet. This professional knowledge deficit—a dereliction of journalistic duty—is manifest in their coverage of the free speech event, and/or their interactions with Ms. Geller.
The hard reality
The hard reality is this: the more we back down, the more emboldened they become. The government claims it is taking the threat on her life seriously. We hope so. Because it appears that these ISIS, or Islamic State wannabes, are all over the United States. It’s time we become stronger, more able to get in their faces with a fearless attitude instead of succumbing to pressure. They are watching us, looking for weakness. They won’t get any of that here.
“The disbelievers who shot our brothers think that you killed someone untrained, nay, they gave you their bodies in plain view because we were watching.”
