Freedom of Religion Under Attack by the Biden Administration

Xavier Becerra, the Secretary of Health and Human Services is removing all of Trump’s protections for religion from the HHS, according to an in-house memo. Antony Blinken, the Secretary of State has removed Nigeria from the list of “Countries of Particular Concern.” – a list that is created to note the serious religious persecution which occurs in certain countries. Nigeria has had thousands of incidents of attacks on churches, Pastors, Priests, congregations… many of which are committed by Fulani herdsmen (Jihadists). Blinken convenientaly left them out as well, and mentioned only Boko Haram and ISIS. Freedom of religion is under attack by the Biden administration.

The leaked memo removing Trump’s freedom of religion protections

Becerra’s leaked memo was aimed at the Office of Civil Rights, which President Trump had ordered to protect the religious rights of Americans.

In October 2017, former Attorney General Jeff Sessions provided executive agencies with a long list of guidelines on the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), free exercise claims, contraception in insurance plans and other issues in response to President Trump’s executive order demanding action on the issue. As a result, HHS granted OCR the authority in December 2017 to, among other things, conduct RFRA compliance reviews and “initiate such other actions as may be necessary to facilitate and ensure compliance with RFRA.”

The internal memo shared with Fox News argues that the former administration may have over-expanded OCR’s authority and signals intent to repeal Trump-era initiatives.

House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer. R-Ky., told Fox News in an exclusive statement said it’s “no surprise” that HHS is planning to roll back religious liberty protections.

“Secretary Becerra has a pattern of attacking Americans’ religious liberty and it should come as no surprise he is seeking to prevent HHS’ Office of Civil Rights from defending this core American value.”

And he does – ask California churches about his pattern of attempting to destroy the freedoms of churches.

Blinken’s removal of Nigeria from the CPC listReligious Freedom under attack

An International watchdog for Christian persecution, Open Doors, says that Blinken’s action on the CPC list is “baffling.”

Today, as required by the International Religious Freedom Act (IRFA), US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken identified the “Countries of Particular Concern” – those who are in severe violations of religious freedom. Burma, the People’s Republic of China, Eritrea, Iran, the DPRK, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan received the designation for having engaged in or tolerated “systematic, ongoing, and egregious violations of religious freedom.” However, the notable absence of Nigeria, which ranks #9 on Open Doors’ 2021 World Watch List, has the Christian persecution watchdog troubled. Open Doors has reported that in Nigeria alone, an average of 10 Christians a day are killed for their faith, driving a startling 60% worldwide increase in Christian martyrdom last year.

“We’re deeply alarmed at today’s decision by the U.S. State Department to end the designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC). This is not only a baffling error, it’s likely in direct violation of the International Religious Freedom Act, the law that requires these designations to be made in the first place,” said David Curry, CEO of Open Doors USA.

AP, November 17

Recently, an Epoch Times reporter Luka Binniyat, who covers jihadi massacres, was arrested by Nigerian authorities. The President of Nigeria, who is himself Fulani, has declined to do anything about the murders. The Fulanis were designated as terrorists…will this administration remove them from that list too?

Fulani attacks often involve the burning down of entire villages, hacking civilians to death with machetes, and other atrocities.

Buhari, an ethnic Fulani himself who became president in 2015 after a stint as military dictator in the 1980s, won the election that year by vowing to eradicate Boko Haram. Buhari has done little since, however, to deter jihadist assaults in the north of the country.

This administration hates anyone who doesn’t follow their particular line of thinking. Strong words, but what else can you call these actions? The excuses they use and the actions they make are downright evil towards everyone tho disagrees with them. Freedom of religion is under attack and it’s not the only thing.
