Big Tech has decided that Free Speech platforms such as Parler and Gab are dangerous because people “organize” on them. The New York Times wrote a hit piece against GAB, claiming that the “protesters” planned the DC riots on their platform. Google and Apple banned the Parler App on their stores also because Parler wasn’t “monitoring egregious speech.” The ultimate goal? To a) frame the sites for the January 6th DC riots, and/or b) force compliance with “robust” moderation (i.e. censorship).
In recent weeks, especially after President Trump was totally banned on Twitter and Facebook, people have flocked to the free speech platforms.
“Protecting user safety” – censorship under the guise of “protecting” you
“In order to protect user safety on Google Play, our longstanding policies require that apps displaying user-generated content have moderation policies and enforcement that removes egregious content like posts that incite violence…
…In light of this ongoing and urgent public safety threat, we are suspending the app’s listings from the Play Store until it addresses these issues.”Google Statement
For years we have watched as Big Tech destroyed Freedom of Speech by claiming they are “protecting” us. I sincerely don’t want their brand of “protection” – it’s a demand for conformity. The assaults against the free speech platforms are the same: ‘either do it our way or we’ll take you down.’
Parler CEO John Matze pushed back:
Google never gave us any warning. The justification for the removal was screenshots shared on Twitter (Ironically allowed by Twitter and ignored by Apple and Google) of content that was banned on Parler for violating our TOS. This is not an attack on Parler. This is an attack on our basic civil liberties and right to free speech…
…Apparently they believe Parler is responsible for ALL user generated content on Parler. Therefor by the same logic, Apple must be responsible for ALL actions taken by their phones. Every car bomb, every illegal cell phone conversation, every illegal crime committed on an iPhone, Apple must also be responsible for … Standards not applied to Twitter, Facebook or even Apple themselves, apply to Parler.John Matze, ECO of Parler to The Epoch Times
The CEO and founder of GAB, Andrew Torba stated,
Over the past several weeks I have been openly warning the Gab community to be on the lookout for fedposters and threats or encouragement of violence on Gab. This PSYOP campaign started back in early December with newly created accounts popping up out of nowhere and making threats of violence. We have zero tolerance for this behavior and it is absolutely not free speech.
This has always been our policy. We have thousands of volunteers, customers, and longtime community members who helped us stomp out this PSYOP campaign over the past several weeks and expose it. After this week, it’s clear why this PSYOP was started: to take down alt-tech platforms and frame them for the January 6th protests that ended with the police killing an unarmed woman.
Almost instantly after police allowed protestors into the Capitol the New York Times started a baseless narrative that this protest was organized on alt-tech sites, and in particular on Gab, without offering any proof, screenshots, usernames, or evidence to back these baseless claims.Andrew Torba, CEO GAB
For the uninitiated, the “psyop” he’s talking about is the CIA’s ‘Operation Mockingbird.’ They planted CIA operatives within the media who would write/speak the propaganda promoted by the CIA. When they declassified the documents in 2007 called the “Family Jewels,” there was only one mention of it about two journalists they wiretapped for a period of time. The CIA never officially acknowledged the name, and did not say whether it was still operating in that mode. Bet me.
“We will not cave to pressure from anti-competitive actors! We will and always have enforced our rules against violence and illegal activity. But we WONT cave to politically motivated companies and those authoritarians who hate free speech.”John Matze
