Florida ZombiCon Shooting- 1 dead, 4 injured, Manhunt On

By Faye Higbee

Fort Myers, Florida -A Convention of 20,000 Zombie-lovers in downtown Fort Myers drew more than fake blood, theatrical makeup, and a ragged costumes. Gunfire erupted, killing 1 and injuring 4 others. The shooter is still at large, and police are actively looking. It is unknown if they have a suspect.

The ZombiCon event is an annual gathering of people who enjoy Zombie SyFy. For them it is an enjoyable and exciting time to get together with people from all over the country who have similar interests and like to dress up in costume (and often drink). This year everyone who attended was having fun…until the shooting.

The company who created ZombiCon had arranged with Uber for the first ride to be free in an attempt to keep anyone from driving when they were drunk. Uber had also guaranteed to donate $10 to the Pushing DaiZies corporation for every rider. But then…disaster struck.

The Shooting

In the video you can hear 5 gunshots blast into or near the crowd at around 11:44- 11:45 p.m. At that point, chaos broke out in the crowd, as people began to flee. Police asked the crowd to leave the area (no small task). Lee County Sheriff’s officer set up a command center and taped off the downtown area.

We take the safety of our patrons very seriously and take precautions in hiring security and police officers for our annual event.”Rachel Telfor, security coordinator.

“Our prayers go out to the family members and individuals involved in the incident. We are extremely confident in the Fort Myers Police Department and the actions they are taking to apprehend the assailant.  Their response was quick an efficient to the incident.”  Janet DeMarco, ZombiCon Founder.

The anti-gun agenda

This incident marks the 2nd time in a week that shots were fired in downtown Fort Myers. As these incidents pile up, we need to be aware that the Democrats and anti-gunners will be coalescing into one voice to take away our right to bear arms. If you are on their side, get ready for a formidable backlash from those of us who are not. Molon Labe.

Anyone with information should call the Fort Myers Police at 239-321-7700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS. The video that contains the gunshots is here:
