Fire Monster…Carr Fire in Cali Doubles in Size Overnight

 In Uncategorized

The Carr Fire in Northern California has torched over 80,000 acres and is only 5% contained, according to several reports, including Fox News.  About 37,000 people are under mandatory evacuation orders. Two children and their great-grandmother were found dead, and a Fire Inspector and bulldozer operator fought the inferno to their deaths. Several firefighters have also been injured. At least 5,000 homes are still threatened, 500 structures have already burned to the ground. People, wildlife, livestock, pets — all in the path of this monster.

President Trump declared a State of Emergency at Governor Brown’s request after seeing the size of the wildfire, releasing Federal funds to help the efforts. But the fire continues to grow.

“The President’s action authorizes the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to coordinate all disaster relief efforts which have the purpose of alleviating the hardship and suffering caused by the emergency on the local population, and to provide appropriate assistance for required emergency measures, authorized under title V of the Stafford Act, to save lives and to protect property and public health and safety, and to lessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe in Shasta County.” WH Press release

The fire’s strength has to do with “superheated air” – the temperatures in Northern California are running in the triple digits. The Carr fire has a life of its own at this point, producing many “firenados.”  The fire’s vortex consumes everything in its path, the winds and hot weather driving it.  Authorities are telling everyone to “leave when you are told to leave.” There may not be time to wait…do what they tell you.

Firefighters managed to save portions of Redding overnight, but people cannot go back to the homes yet due to a lack of utilities, according to a friend. The fire turned toward Ono, Igo and Gas Point.
