Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan finally decided to dismantle CHOP, (her exact words were “phase down” ) the insurrectionist zone inside her city. It only took a murder and two people injured from gunshot wounds. And no police. Never mind that residents inside the zone have been in a literal prison camp for the last two weeks and the Mayor did nothing. How she will do it is another matter entirely.
The Seattle police advised of rapes, theft, extortion, and other crimes running rampant inside the zone. But whenever they attempted to enter to rescue victims, they were met with a violent mob. Forcing their way in would have made Seattle’s liberal leadership angry. And gee, you can’t have that.
Pay attention to these Mayoral statements, written by FOX
Durkan said the violence was distracting from changes sought by thousands of peaceful protesters opposing racial inequity and police brutality. She said at a news conference that the city is working with the community to bring CHOP to an end and that police soon would move back into a precinct building in the area they had largely abandoned.
The mayor did not give an immediate timeline for clearing out the occupation but said “additional steps” would be examined if people don’t leave voluntarily. With scores of people camping in a park in the protest zone, Durkan said peaceful demonstrations could continue, but nighttime disorder had to stop.
“The cumulative impacts of the gatherings and protests and the nighttime atmosphere and violence has led to increasingly difficult circumstances for our businesses and residents,” Durkan said. “The impacts have increased and the safety has decreased.”
Remember the woman who blatantly said they were NOT there to “peacefully protest?” The agenda behind CHOP was control, with the plan to tear everything down and rebuild it according to their ideas. While some of the people in this zone are just floaters whohave no clue, others are hardened anarchists.
Some members of Chopistan or Chazistan have demanded a curfew because of the danger at night. Rumors of people being attacked, Seattle resident’s homes ransacked, businesses destroyed are all over the internet. But there has been no action by the Mayor of Seattle until now. And we seriously wonder how this will be accomplished by a weak Seattle administration.
To dismantle CHOP peacefully may not happen like the Mayor wants. The anarchists have control at this point, and they may not willingly give up that control – some of them are armed (evidenced by the weekend shootings). Hippies might peacefully disperse, but the core anarchists…we’ll see.
The Seattle city attorney on Wednesday said some cases against protesters might be dropped.
“After two weeks of anguished demonstrations over the murder of George Floyd and the killing of other unarmed black men by police, it is plain to me that peaceful protestors should not be prosecuted despite having been arrested during events that have sometimes devolved into violent and destructive confrontations with Seattle police and supporting law enforcement agencies.” Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes
The City Attorney is blinded by lies. The anarchists had no intention of just protesting George Floyd, they had an entirely different agenda. But weakness, the position from which Seattle leadership enters this idea of how to dismantle CHOP, is not going to work well.
Will the Seattle Mayor try to negotiate her way out of this mess? To dismantle CHOP will cost the city in terms of cleanup. The police precinct that was abandoned has been ransacked, and covered with graffiti. If the city allows the “peaceful protests” to continue in the park, guaranteed that residents near the park will still have problems.
