Covid Lockdown Rules for You But Not For The ‘Powers That Be’

By Faye Higbee

California’s Covid lockdown rules are among the strictest in the nation, and appear to be increasing daily. It appears, however, that across the nation, Democrats who impose severe restrictions over Covid tend to violate them with impunity. The vast majority of California is in the “purple tier” or the most stringent restrictions. But California isn’t the only state with leadership under scrutiny.

Protests have erupted against covid lockdown rules all over the nation from East to West

California: Take for example, Mayor Sam Liccardo of San Jose. Soon after he tweeted for his constituents to “cancel the big gatherings” and stay home, he jetted off to visit his parents for the holiday with five households in attendance. The “covid lockdown rules” stated no more than 3 households with less than 10 people. What’s good for the peons is apparently not good for the elites.

Or Cali Governor Newsom, who attended a dinner party at the Yountville French Laundry restaurant (supposedly outside with 12, but turned out later to be 22 people) and the “outside” was actually enclosed. No masks, no social distancing. After videos surfaced of his dinner party, Gov Newsom “apologized” calling it a “big mistake.” It’s that old ‘act first, apologize later’ routine with these Democrats.

Mayor London Breed in San Francisco, whose covid restrictions are crazy tight, yet she went to the same restaurant as Newsom for a birthday party just one day later. And they have yet to respond as to how many people were actually at that “birthday” bash. Some news outlets say 8, but it may have been seriously more than that, if it follows the track of the other Democrats. Against, masks and social distancing were apparently mythological for her but the rest of California was locked down.

Texas: the Mayor of Austin, Texas told his constituents to stay home while he flew to Cabo San Lucas for Thanksgiving with 8 wedding guests from his daughter’s 20 person wedding at an elite Boutique hotel in Austin.

Austin Mayor Steve Adler has confirmed to the KVUE Defenders that, after hosting his daughter’s wedding, he vacationed to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, last month with a group of people.

Both happened in early November, just as top health officials began urging families not to gather with others outside their households and the mayor himself asked people to stay home if they could in order to slow the number of coronavirus cases.” KVUE

So we have numerous Democratic officials, including a Judge in Texas who paid his own $1,000 fine for violating his own Covid lockdown rules to attend his grandson’s birthday party.

New York officials also appear to be in the “I’ll do what I want” category instead of practicing what they preach.

In New York, prominent Brooklyn Democrats were criticized for attending a birthday party where many of the attendees were neither wearing a mask nor practicing social distance, despite the rising number of coronavirus cases in New York City.

The party was held over the weekend to celebrate the 50th birthday of Carlo Scissura, the head of a construction trade organization, New York Building Congress. Attendees included Deputy Brooklyn Borough President Ingrid Lewis-Martin and former Brooklyn Democratic Party Chairman Frank Seddio

Think about these flagrant violations. If these Democrats are telling others to follow Covid lockdown rules, but they are not following them, and there are “medical officials” pushing the rules, what kind of message is this telling the rest of us? Many of these officials have claimed they were “following the protocal.” Many of them were not.

LA Mayor Garcetti issued a “stay at home” order, and banned all “non-essential” activities, stating that it was “time to cancel everything.”

Public transportation and gatherings are prohibited with the exception of gatherings for outdoor religious services and outdoor protests with social distancing and face masks.

Essential activities include health care operations, grocery store visits, farming, social services, media and music production, plumbing and electricity work and so on, according to the order.

Our City is now close to a devastating tipping point, beyond which the number of hospitalized patients would start to overwhelm our hospital system, in turn risking needless suffering and death,” a Wednesday public order from Garcetti reads. “These unfortunate facts about the spread of COVID-19 in our City mean that we must resume some of the more restrictive measures we instituted in the Spring.”

Protests over the rigid covid lockdown rules are occurring regularly in California, as well as many other states from New York to Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, and others. Locking down small businesses such as restaurants and gyms is a recipe for economic collapse, as we’ve already experienced. Business owners around the nation fully understand that ALL businesses are “essential” for their families.
