CNN has sunk to new levels – instead of the usual fake news endeavors, they ran a “what if” piece yesterday on the possibility of both Trump and Pence being assassinated at their swearing in tomorrow.
The “Trump Assassination Scenario” piece by Brian Todd was placed on YouTube after airing on CNN, and suggested that if something happened to Trump and Pence, an Obama appointee could become President. They devoted an entire segment to the fantasy piece, as if it was wishful thinking on their part.
They are coming under fire for tasteless reporting. Tasteless is an understatement. They’ve been reporting “fake news” now for years, slanting things so far to the left that they fall off the cliff. This one crosses the line, and should result in a massive boycott.
Blitzer introduced the segment, saying, “What if an incoming president and his immediate successors were wiped out on day one?” and from there, CNN contributor Brian Todd took over to outline the line of succession if an attack blew up the inaugural dais, killing both Trump and Pence.
The upshot was that in the case of both heads of state being killed, the Secretary of State would take over. Currently that man is Secretary of State John Kerry, But in case some objected because his office would also end as of noon on Inauguration Day, then it would be the Speaker of the House — Republican Paul Ryan — or even Obama’s Under Secretary for Political Affairs Tom Shannon.
The problem with this wishful thinking piece is that some cluck might try it. Such a situation would directly be CNN’s fault. Is this CNN action criminal? Close…very close.
