Cedar Park, Texas – Three Officers Wounded, Possible Hostage Situation

Cedar Park, Texas just north of Austin had three officers shot when they responded to a call for service. The suspect is barricaded inside the home. There are reportedly children inside the residence, and the suspect is threatening to kill the children if police come inside. The home is in the Heritage Park subdivision. (KXAN)

Three police officers were shot in Cedar Park, Texas on Sunday afternoon, after a suspect barricaded himself inside a home off Natalie Cove. The city is about 25 miles north of Austin. The scene is still “active” as of 5:20 p.m. CDT. The police are asking residents to avoid the area. All three were transported to the hospital and are reportedly in stable condition.

CPPD Police tweeted: “We are on scene of a shooting where multiple Cedar Park Police Officers have been shot while responding to a call at a home off Natalie Cove. Subject is barricaded inside the home and multiple law enforcement agencies are on scene.”

The City of Cedar Park asked residents to Please avoid Bagdad Rd. between Osage and New Hope @CedarParkPD  and Cedar Park fire Dept. have closed southbound lane of Bagdad at Heritage.”

One Austin Police officer, Bino Cadenas, told Fox reporter Kacey Bowen that he was told the situation was hostage related, with children inside the home. Another source listed the injuries of the three officers: as one with an arm wound, one who was shot in the chest but saved by his vest, and one with a grazing head wound.

Cedar Park is considered a suburb of Austin.

Local Police Chief Mike Harmon stated that his officers were in stable condition:

“Just left the hospital and all 3 ofc’s are in stable condition. The scene in Heritage Park Subdivision is still active. Please avoid the area. Thank you to everyone who has expressed their concern.” Cedar Park Chief Mike Harmon
