In a “posh” neighborhood in Los Angeles, a Calif gun bust yielded over 1,000 firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition. But the man who owned them was licensed to own them – he was arrested for illegally selling them, not for possessing them. ATF spokesperson Ginger Colbrun assured the public that they “have no reason to believe the public is in any danger.”
News media categorized the cache of weapons and ammo as “large enough to outfit an army.” That he could stockpile that many weapons in Calif’s gun control utopia is a shocker.
Authorities seized more than 1,000 firearms from a Southern California home after getting an anonymous tip regarding illegal weapons sales in a posh area of Los Angeles. https://t.co/5SwtV2ahYb pic.twitter.com/gTSKWDeUWQ— ABC News (@ABC) May 9, 2019
A Calif gun bust
Girard Damien Saenz, 57, was charged with “unlawful transportation and giving, lending or selling assault weapons.” He is being held on a $50,000 bond. Federal charges may be pending.
His home was in Holmby Hills, which is between the Beverly Hills and Bel Air neighborhoods – that fact is part of what flabbergasted police who responded to the anonymous tip about illegal gun sales. The tip stated that a person was selling and manufacturing weapons.
“I had never seen so many weapons in my career of 31 years. That’s such a big arsenal in a residence like this, in this type of neighborhood. It’s astounding.” LAPD Lt. Chris Ramirez to ABC News
Everything from rifles to handguns to Civil War era weapons were piled outside the residence while authorities catalogued them all. The ATF is assisting LAPD in the investigation.
Comments on the police post were sometimes humorous, with people saying they were hoping for a parking lot sale. There were also the usual humorless liberals who demanded all the guns be destroyed.
