Bothell Officer Murdered, Cop-Killer Supported BLM

By Faye Higbee

Bothell Officer Jonathan Shoop, 32, was a US Coast Guard veteran who started his law enforcement career in June of 2019. On July 13, he was gunned down and his partner wounded, allegedly by Henry Eugene Washington, a Black man with an excessively long criminal record who supported Black Lives Matter. What about Jonathan Shoop’s life? He mattered too. Where’s the outrage? Where are the riots, the demonstrations, the shrieking for justice? Crickets.

UPDATE: Forensic examination of the bullet that struck Jonathan Shoop reveals it came from his partner’s weapon. Washington will still be charged with murder.

The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART) reported on July 14:

“At about 9:40 p.m. on July 13th, two Bothell Police officers were patrolling in a marked patrol SUV when they initiated a traffic stop on a black Pontiac G6 at the intersection of Bothell Way NE and Woodinville Dr. The Pontiac initially stopped but accelerated through the traffic light as Officer Shoop approached it. The Pontiac struck a pedestrian riding a scooter in the crosswalk before crossing the median and stopped in the westbound lanes of Woodinville Dr. The officers drove around the median and U-turned to approach the Pontiac. According to video footage and witnesses, a male exited the Pontiac and walked towards the police SUV while firing a handgun at it. The male then ran from the scene as the police SUV continued forward, glanced off the Pontiac and rolled several hundred yards before coming to a stop against a tree.

Responding units found the police SUV with the driver, Officer Shoop, deceased and the second officer wounded.

Officers secured a perimeter and searched for the shooter. A few hours later, a male matching the shooters description was observed on the rooftop of a business in the 10000 block of Main St. At about 3:40 a.m., the male attempted to get off the rooftop but became wedged between the buildings and was taken into custody without incident. A handgun was recovered from his pants.

During an interview with detectives, the male admitted to driving the Pontiac, driving away from the traffic stop, hitting the pedestrian and shooting at Officer Shoop. The male, a 37 year-old, was booked into the King County Jail on probable cause for murder, assault, and vehicular assault. A charging decision will be made by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.”

The person on the scooter and the second officer were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. They are expected to survive. The Bothell Police Department tweeted their fallen officer’s name:

During the incident, Washington called a hospital in Arizona and told them he killed a cop. He also called his mother, who posted on Facebook that she was in shock. That post was removed, but the Post -Millennial took a screenshot:

Heavy.com noted Washington’s criminal record:

“Washington has a previous criminal record in Kansas, Texas and Arizona, according to state court records. In Texas, Washington has convictions dating back to 2001. He has been convicted there of evading arrest, possession of marijuana, felony drug possession and making terroristic threats.

In Kansas, Washington was accused of criminal threat causing terror, assault of a law enforcement officer, eluding police, violation of a protective order, interference with law enforcement, stalking and aggravated intimidation of a witness. In Arizona, Washington was charged with disorderly conduct and threatening.”

Officer Jonathan Shoop left behind his fiance, his mother and brothers. He was just beginning a new career after serving the nation in the Coast Guard. His life mattered.

Henry Washington never served anything but his own greed and selfishness.
