Biden: “Zero Tolerance” for Gun Dealers; Background Checks on Ammo Reintroduced by FL Dem

Democrats are on a full court press to destroy the 2nd Amendment. Biden announced on Wednesday a move toward “zero tolerance” for gun dealers who knowingly sell guns to people who shouldn’t have them. He calls it combatting violent crime. Meanwhile, FL Rep Debbie Wasserman-Schultz reintroduced “Jaime’s Law” – a bill requiring background checks on ammunition. Democrats have a habit of defining crime prevention as gun control. And Biden himself has been gleefully addressing the issues with Executive orders.

Zero tolerance

The Biden administration on Wednesday announced “zero tolerance” for gun dealers who willfully violate the law, as part of the administration’s strategy to combat what the Department of Justice calls a “staggering” surge in violent crime…

The “zero tolerance” policy targets federally licensed firearms dealers who “willfully” transfer a weapon to someone prohibited from owning one or ignore a tracing request from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The ATF would seek to revoke the dealer’s license after the first offense, a senior White House official said.

The Department of Justice announced Tuesday that it is launching “strike forces” to target gun traffickers and to provide more transparency around the enforcement of federally licensed firearms dealer policies.

The problem with that whole idea is that the law says that if the record check is delayed the firearm can be transferred after three days anyway (unless they change the law, which is every Democrat’s dream…or the result of Biden’s “pen and phone”). How does a gun dealer know that someone is prohibited if the computer check is backed up? Or if there is a human error somewhere in the chain of the background checks? If they are going to hold the gun dealer liable when a perfectly legal transaction is made, that is a problem. When the Federal government goes after someone under the guise of “knowingly,” and they attack on the “first offense,” then gun dealers are in jeopardy. Those “strike forces” are downright worrisome.

Background checks on ammunition

To add insult to injury, Rep Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL) reintroduced Jaime’s Law back in April… the proposal to force background checks to NICS for every purchase of ammunition.

I am proud to stand with my friends Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz and Fred Guttenberg every day to demand action that will save lives in honor of Fred’s daughter Jaime. It is simply outrageous that it is illegal for some people to possess or purchase guns and ammunition, but we only run background checks on guns,” said Congressman Deutch. “Every time someone buys a bullet is an opportunity for law enforcement to check that those bullets aren’t going to end up in the headlines the next morning because of another mass shooting, another intimate partner murder, another suicide, another of the 40,000 gun violence tragedies in this country every year. We need to fix our gun laws. And the time is now.”

Still playing off the emotion of the Parkland shooting, this bill failed the first time through. First, it would put a huge strain on the NICS system. Ammunition at this time is in such high demand – because guns are in high demand -that it’s difficult to find in some areas, depending on the caliber. Firearms manufacturers say that the ammo scarcity is likely to continue through 2021. Wasserman-Schultz calls it “common sense,” the usual mantra of the anti-gun crowd. But it isn’t common sense.

She used Illinois as an example of the wonderful gun control in place. She obviously doesn’t read much, since Chicago has been shooting each other on a daily basis- and the weekends are generally the worst. Where did the gangs get their ammo? Just a question, because if Illinois is such a poster child for gun laws, then why are people dying there on a regular basis? Shouldn’t the rigid laws have fixed that problem by now?

As with any rigid gun control, none of them work to stem violent crime because criminals do not obey the law. The only people who will suffer under all of these ideas and rules are law abiding citizens.
