Biden Gun Control Push: “No Amendment to the Constitution is Absolute.”

Yes, Biden is a real “piece of work.” The man who is currently steering our ship of state directly into the rocks doesn’t think the US Constitution is a barrier to the government taking away your guns. He’s so delusional that the words “shall not be infringed” don’t exist in his world. The Biden gun control push is on track and moving fast after yesterday’s speech.

More background checks, ghost guns, targeting pistol stabilizers, and a national red flag law: these are just the tip of the Biden administration’s attack on the Second Amendment.

“No amendment to the Constitution is absolute.”

Timing is everything

As if to punctuate the Biden gun control push, a mass shooting took place in Texas on Thursday. It was not random, it was workplace violence at Kent Moore Cabinets in Bryan, Texas. One person was killed, 6 others wounded, including a Texas DPS officer. One person had an asthma attack during the incident and was transported to the hospital. The officer and one other person were in critical but stable condition as of yesterday. Today the officer was upgraded to serious condition. A man named Larry Bollin, 27, was arrested less than an hour after the shootings in nearby Belias.

Then there was the suspect.

Targeting the gun instead of the criminal is the main problem with the anti-gun crowd. It’s unlikely that Biden’s minions called Bollin up and told him to go shoot his coworkers to bolster Biden’s gun control agenda, but sometimes that timing thing makes us wonder.

The Biden gun control speech yesterday was filled with untruths and exaggerations. For example:

“Most people don’t know, you walk into a store and you buy a gun, you have a background check. But you go to a gun show, you can buy whatever you want and no background check.”

Joe Biden 4-8-2021

Not true. Any federally licensed dealer at a gun show still has to conduct background checks.

“People don’t realize the only industry in America, a billion-dollar industry, that can’t be sued, that are exempt from being sued, are gun manufacturers. This is the only outfit that is exempt from being sued.”

Joe Biden 4-8-2021

Also not true. The PLCAA only protects gunmakers from lawsuits against them for criminal use of their weapons. Gun manufacturers have been sued and do not have immunity from negligence.

That claim is also false. Gun manufacturers can be sued and sometimes are sued over claims of negligence. Remington settled a lawsuit over an alleged design flaw with the trigger on its popular Model 700 rifle, and Sig Sauer has been sued multiple times over an alleged safety defect with its P320 handgun. The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, which Biden hopes to repeal, provides immunity to the industry over lawsuits stemming from the criminal misuse of guns by third parties.

Even the limited immunity granted to the gun industry is not unique. Numerous other industries benefit from protections against lawsuits that do not implicate willful misconduct on the part of the company. Pharmaceutical companies developing COVID-19 vaccines have immunity from lawsuits over side-effects caused by the life-saving drugs under the 2005 Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness Act. The same immunity extends to employers who require vaccinations for employment, according to CNBC.

Biden’s claims, or those of any anti-gunner, do not take into consideration human error. The FBI delayed the record check on Charleston shooter Dylann Roof, but it was because they couldn’t find the record that would have prevented him from buying the gun. It’s not the “Charleston Loophole” that anti-gunners claim. Human error accounts for nearly all of the mass shootings by people who should never have been able to purchase a gun in the first place. More gun laws would to nothing to stop that problem.
