Armed Group Breaks Into Louisiana Home. Dad Defends: Only Half Made It Out Alive

By Faye Higbee

At around 10 a.m. on December 8, a group of four armed men broke into an occupied Louisiana home in Lacombe, St Tammany Parish. It was the last time two of them will ever do it again, and the other two had to be taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. The homeowner’s 4 year old daughter was struck by a bullet during the exchange of gunfire, but will make a full recovery after surgery.

Armed Group of home invaders

Local media reports that the homeowner was possibly pistol whipped prior to retrieving his weapon. But retrieve it he did: and took down all four of the armed group. The would-be robbers picked the wrong house. He took defending his family seriously. (And must have been a better shot than anyone in the armed group. Just sayin’. ) The homeowner will not be charged, according to law enforcement.

“While it is always tragic anytime there is a loss of life. I am pleased that due to the rapid response time of our deputies all parties that were involved in this isolated incident have been accounted for.”

St Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith (WGNO)

The deceased members of the armed group were identified as Renard Causey Jr, 25, and Justin Hill, 21. Their bodies were taken to the St Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office.

The other two, Renard Causey Sr, 43, and Jason Leblanc, 22, are both facing felony charges: two counts of first-degree murder, armed robbery and home invasion. A warrant was issued for their arrest and both will be booked into jail as soon as they are released from the hospital. Causey is listed in stable condition, Leblanc in critical condition, according to WWL. They are charged with two counts of First Degree Murder, which is standard when accomplices are killed during the commission of a crime.

It is unlikely that all of the armed group of men are novices to criminal activity. Waking up one morning and deciding to break into a home at gunpoint is possible, but not likely. None of the media accounts mentioned a prior criminal record.

Home invasions in broad daylight used to be relatively rare. In this lawless world, that is no longer the case. Stay alert, America. Your weapon may save your life and that of your family.
